Matthew 4:17 · Matthew 6:33

The Kingdom of God:
His reign shaping our lives.

The Kingdom of God is God's reign, revealed in Jesus Christ. Jesus announced its good news, called people to repentance and demonstrated God's mercy and power. Through His death and resurrection, He brings us into restored relationship with God and calls us to follow Him.

01

Know the King.

Colossians 1:13–20

Christian faith begins with Jesus Christ. We look to His life, teaching, death and resurrection to understand the God we serve. He is the King we follow and the Saviour in whom we place our trust.

Through His death for our sins and His resurrection, Jesus opens the way to forgiveness and new life with God. Salvation is God's gift of grace, received through faith in Him. The life of discipleship is our response to His love and saving work.

02

Turn to God. Follow His way.

Matthew 4:17

Jesus calls people to repentance because the Kingdom of heaven is near. Repentance means turning to God with a changed mind and life, expressed through faith and obedience to Jesus Christ.

This involves more than feeling sorry. We bring our sin honestly before God, receive His forgiveness through Christ and learn to turn away from what harms our relationship with Him and with others. Trusting Jesus changes our direction and leads us to follow His teaching.

In everyday life, that may mean speaking truthfully, asking forgiveness, putting right what we can and choosing a faithful response when an old habit calls us back. We depend on God's grace and the help of the Holy Spirit as we grow.

03

Seek His Kingdom first.

Matthew 6:33

Seeking God's Kingdom and righteousness first means bringing our priorities under His reign. We learn to trust our Father and pursue what is right before Him, rather than letting worry, ambition or approval direct every choice.

This priority reaches the whole of life:

  • Character: Choose truth, humility and integrity, including when no one is watching.
  • Relationships and family: Listen, forgive, keep commitments and care for those entrusted to you.
  • Work and stewardship: Work honestly, treat people fairly and use time, skills and resources responsibly.
  • Leadership and service: Use influence to build others up, welcome accountability and respond to practical needs.

Seeking first is a daily life of faith and obedience. It is not a promise of wealth or freedom from hardship. We follow Christ through both opportunity and difficulty, trusting His care and learning His way.

04

Grow through discipleship.

Matthew 28:18–20 · Galatians 5:22–23

A disciple is someone who follows Jesus and learns to live by His teaching. We grow through the Scriptures, prayer, obedience, fellowship and practical service.

The Holy Spirit helps us understand God's Word, turn from sin and develop the character of Christ. Love, patience, kindness and self-control become visible in the way we speak, make decisions and treat people.

Growth takes practice. We encourage one another, receive correction with humility and keep returning to Jesus. Learning His Word leads us towards a life that reflects Him.

05

Represent Him in everyday life.

2 Corinthians 5:20 · Matthew 5:13–16

To represent Christ is to reflect His character through our conduct and service. Our witness invites others towards Him with truth, respect and love.

At home, we practise faithfulness and care. At work or in learning, we act honestly and treat others fairly. In our communities, we notice needs, respond with compassion and steward the responsibilities God has entrusted to us.

This is the heart of ELMI's identity as a Kingdom Embassy: a community seeking to reflect the King through worship, prayer, integrity, compassion and service. As an Apostolic Hub, we equip believers to carry that faith into their own communities and responsibilities.

06

Lead by serving.

Mark 10:42–45 · Ephesians 4:11–16

Jesus teaches us to use responsibility for the good of others. Servant leadership listens, cares for people, welcomes accountability and points them towards Him.

The gifts described in Ephesians 4 equip believers for service and build up the body of Christ. Their purpose is maturity in Him, expressed in truth and love. A leader's conduct should help people grow in faith, righteous living and care for one another.

The call of Matthew 4:17 and the priority of Matthew 6:33 shape leadership too. We keep turning towards Jesus and placing His Kingdom above our own status or ambition.
