Study summary
ELMI's archived study invites believers to acknowledge their weaknesses and seek support from God and trusted people in their faith community. Helping one another grow calls for patience, responsibility and a willingness both to give and receive encouragement.
The study draws on Ephesians 4 to connect ministry with everyday speech. Words can build people up or cause harm. Encouraging, honest conversation is part of serving others, alongside the care we show through our actions.
Practical needs also matter. When someone is hungry, offering food meets a need that words alone cannot address. The study encourages readers to put aside bitterness and anger so they can serve with love.
Read and reflect.
Suggested Scripture reading: Ephesians 4; James 3:9–10; 2 Peter 1:3–11.
- Who could you encourage with a thoughtful word this week?
- What practical need could you help meet?
- How can you give or receive correction with patience and care?
Living the Kingdom message
A present-day editorial reflection · Matthew 4:17 · Matthew 6:33
Jesus calls us to repentance: turning to God with a changed mind and life, expressed through faith and obedience to Him. That response includes our speech and our treatment of others. Seeking God's Kingdom and righteousness first shapes how we use our words, time and resources to serve.
As disciples of the risen Christ, we depend on His grace and the Holy Spirit to grow in patience, integrity and practical love.
